Chianti Classico

One of my most memorable trips in Tuscany was in the Chianti region. My good friend Massimo, one of the owners of Vetrate Artistiche Toscane, took us there for a tour and tasting before continuing on to his brother’s house for a late lunch of tradition Tuscan fare. The lunch started out with a fine white wine, TRASTELLA, sharp cheeses and great conversation to build up our hunger. Then, a simple but delicious pasta course. Bow-tie pasta with small hot green peppers and regiano-parm. We then graduated to the red wine, FANATICO Chianti Classico DOCG, with the main dish of lentils, stuffed portabello mushroom and arugula. And for dessert, gelato. I did purchase a dessert wine, but Massimo insisted that I save it for when I return to Siena. He said that it is a very special wine that is best served for joyous occasions, the TRASANTO Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Occhio di Pernice DOC. Below are photo of the food and beautify scenery.
